Each year BC Girl Guides’ scholarship program recognizes our members' many achievements by supporting their educational goals and diverse career paths. Scholarships are open to youth and adult members who are pursuing post-secondary education at a recognized college, university, or trades program.
Applications for 2023-2024 BC Scholarships open February 13, 2024.
The application deadline is March 25, 2024.

General criteria for all BC Council scholarships and bursaries
- Applicants must be active members of Girl Guides of Canada–Guides du Canada in BC.
- Applicants must have been registered in BC Council for the past three years.
- Applicants must be residents of BC.
- Applicants must be registered grade 12 students at a BC secondary school (including public, private, home, and independent schools).
- Applicants must be planning to attend an accredited post-secondary institution.
All awards are conditional upon acceptance at a post-secondary institution of the recipient’s choice and must be used within 18 months of the date of notification. All recipients are encouraged to continue their involvement in Guiding.
Please review the scholarship- or bursary-specific criteria for each award. Recipients may be awarded a maximum of one BC Council scholarship or bursary.

BC Council Bursary
For active girl or youth members entering an accredited post-secondary program directly from high school who have shown a commitment to service in their school or community.
Amount: $1000 (10 awards available)
BC Book of Honour Bursary
For active girl or youth members entering an accredited post-secondary program directly from high school who have shown a commitment to service in their school or community.
Amount: $2000 (1 award available)
Elaine Killam Scholarship
For active girl or youth members entering a recognized degree-granting program at an accredited post-secondary institution in Canada directly from high school who have shown a commitment to service in their school or community.
Amount: $2000 (2 awards available)
BC Vocational, Trade, and Technical Scholarship
For active girl or youth members entering a vocational, trade, or technical institution to complete a certificate, diploma, or degree program directly from high school who have shown a commitment to service in their school or community
Amount: $1000 (2 awards available)
Eve Pound Scholarship
For active girl or youth members entering a recognized degree-granting program at an accredited post-secondary institution in Canada directly from high school who have shown a commitment to service in their school or community.
Amount: $500 (1 award available)
Margery Dumfries Scholarship
For active girl or youth members entering an accredited post-secondary program in Canada with the intention to pursue an education or career in science, engineering, or agriculture who have shown a commitment to service in their school or community.
Amount: $500 (1 award available)
Dawnette Humphrey Scholarship
For active members, aged 19-45, entering any type of education, including high school equivalency, technical or career programs and college or university courses, who have shown a commitment to community.
Amount: $500 (1 award available)
